Trump will win in 2020 — again, but it is not the end of the world

You can find the article I posted here on Medium.com on October 23, 2016 here.

That was a prediction of mine about Trump becoming the president of the U.S.

And it happened.

Around that time I had less empathy towards Trump voters. I actually almost despised them for being who they are.

Time flies — and people become wiser. So did I.

Will Trump win again? Yes

I still do believe that although now it is said — at the time of writing this article — Trump has about 10% chance of winning, I still do believe he will win, again.

Why? Because there is noone on the Democratic side who would match his aura.

Is it a scientific explanation? Of course not.

But people who vote Trump do not vote for him due to some scientific reasons, either.

And: they do not like to tell anyone they voted for Trump.

Easy.

Am I still pissed because of Trump winning?

Back in 2016 I wrote:

Once Trump is in power — he will prove he is right. So 100 Million Americans can REALLY:

  • hate immigrants / Mexicans
  • despise women / feminists
  • talk dirty
  • support state investments
  • protecting U.S. interests
  • see him as the MACHO MAN (see: Putin in Russia)
  • see him as the CONSERVATIVE KING (see: Orban in Hungary)

… (the list is very long).

Actually all these became true. But: apart from hate (for immigrants) and despising anyone (in this case women) there is hardly anything lethal (for even one person or for the U.S. or for the world) about anything else he did.

And although he:

Used “fake news” on Twitter 900 times

Pulled out the U.S. from WHO

But still: no, Trump did not become another dark figure in mankind’s history.

He is just an opportunist-populist. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Things he does are ugly, but are far from being deadly.

So: am I still pissed? No.

Part of my 2016 prediction went wrong

Also I wrote in 2016 before the election:

I tell you all these based on experience. All narcisstic, populist leaders have one way only: deeper and deeper down. They have to make their promises come true. And they do. In the end it leads to real blood and war.

Luckily there has been hardly any real blood — but no war.

Ok — some Republican supporters killed Democrats and vica versa or how Trump handled police brutality against blacks had weak support from even white men, but all these are very far from war.

I do not like Trump but can live with the message he sends

What changed significantly for me — is that I started to understand people better in the meantime.

And it implies that I can understand people better, as well, who are unlike me.

Yes, there are plenty of people who lost hope in “usual” politics and need a new voice. A direct voice.

Do I like this voice? Of course not. But, again: his voice is not deadly.

There is democracy in the U.S. and there will be.

Trump was and is the vaccine injected into the U.S. democracy — sometimes one can die from the vaccine, but it rarely happens.

For the talented, intellectual reader

In 2016 I wrote:

We are facing a very dark future.

Now I think it is time for the intellectual reader to think about these:

  • Why do you feel rage against Trump?
  • Do you really think that the old establishment (be it Democrat or Republican) is a viable option to run the U.S.?

I think Trump’s message to many of his voters is that there is a need for change. To change the old establishment. To pay attention to forgotten groups of people.

And this message is louder than the not-always-so-nice subtleties his voice otherwise implies.

Live with it. And invent your anti-establishment anti-Trump. Your country needs it.

And: yes: this is even more true if Trump loses the election in 2020. Just think about that for a second.
