Trump should have won —to make the U.S. eventually re-invent politics; and no you should not unfollow me just because of this title

I predicted Trump winning the U.S. presidential elections on October 23, 2016, find the original post here.

Then I wrote another one a few days ago — about Trump winning again. I was wrong, it seems.

Now if you are a Democrat-it is time for champagne. And just because of the title of this article you will unfollow me on Medium.com.

If you are a Republican-you just may want to kill yourself.

Not so fast.

The need for real political innovation led to Trump

The truth is that the U.S. and the world has been missing real political innovation for long.

By real innovation I mean that we know much more about economics, sociology and psychology than a few decades ago. Everything is there to make people really happy.

Yes, happiness is what we should be aiming for. Nothing less.

Trump has been for long a political innovator. ”Only” one in the wrong direction.

Should Trump win/have won again? Yes

I know. I know. Being a Democrat — it may be very harsh to you. Probably you will stop reading here.

As the easiest and most comfortable way of “doing things” is always forgetting about the inconvenient truths. I am sorry for that.

“If Trump is over — problem solved.”

So why Trump should win / should have won?

Trump winning again in 2020 could have made Democrats to eventually invent new stuff.

The #1 problem with democracy today: politicians serve themselves and not their country

The ruling class perpetuates itself-and calls it “democracy”. But they serve themselves 95% of the time. Just consider these 2 charts: top tax rate in 1950 and in 2018 (source: New York Times, The rich really pay lower taxes than you)

If you say that Democrat politicians in overall serve their country better or more, apart from a few exceptions (this lady and this gentleman), then you just may as be misled.

A rare example for a politician serving her country
…and another one

And vica versa: the same is true for Republican politicians. Can you name any real patriot?

How and why could politics get here?

Because politics today serves the lowest minimum needs of people.

Just chew this for long. Think about this statement.

And why?

Because they can do so. Because with focusing on subtle differences (of opinion) instead of showing up real (economical and policy) progress it is just easier than ever-thanks to mass media-to win with slogans.

Immigrants

Gays

You name it. Just get an emotionally moving topic, put some strong adjectives next to it and you can win an election.

Where next?

I still believe it is time for the intellectual reader to think about these:

  • Why do you feel rage against Trump?
  • Do you really think that the old establishment (be it Democrat or Republican) is a viable option to run the U.S.?

I think Trump’s message to many of his voters is that there is a need for change. To change the old establishment. To pay attention to forgotten groups of people. To eventually have anything but the usual. Tens of Millions of people think like this.

What can you do then?

We badly need political innovators — to save the U.S., to serve not basic instincts but eventually move mankind to the 21st century and further.

And this message is louder than the not-always-so-nice subtleties his voice otherwise implies.

Live with it. And invent your anti-establishment anti-Trump policy and figures. Your country needs it.

And: yes: this is even more true if Trump loses the election in 2020. Just think about that for a second.
